Nicholas Whitcombe
Nicholas Whitcombe is a Managing Director on the Investment team at the CGC. Nick has over 30 years of experience in project, corporate and structured finance both in the private and public sector providing capital to the energy markets. Most recently, Nicholas supported the Loan Programs Office at the Department of Energy (DOE) and played a lead role in providing structuring and underwriting loan guarantee commitments totaling over $7 billion for critical minerals projects, solar and storage projects in Puerto Rico, and residential solar loans.
Nicholas earlier served at DOE as a Supervisory Senior Investment Officer and the interim director of the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing program structuring loan guarantees for nuclear, wind solar and automotive manufacturing projects, which included $8.3 billion in loans for the V.E. Summer units 3 and 4 nuclear reactors in Georgia.
Nicholas was a founding member of the NY Green Bank and was a Managing Director and co-head of the investment and portfolio management team for 6 years. During that time, Nicholas helped arrange and manage a diverse investment portfolio of nearly $1 billion of commitments. Prior to entering public service at DOE and NY Green Bank, Nicholas spent 17 years in a variety of roles at commercial and investment banks including loan originations and structuring, syndications, restructuring and commodity derivatives. Nicholas holds a Bachelor degree from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University.
